About Us

We are Rudy Mendoza and Abigail Huster, your hosts. In 2019 we completed our house, Lazuli, and opened our doors to guests. Lazuli was a passion project for us, a unique opportunity to build the home of our dreams in a vibrant pueblito on the Oaxacan coast.

Our hope with Lazuli is to showcase the unique beauty of Oaxaca. From the tiles on the floor to the dishes on the shelves, many items are handmade by local craftsmen. We carefully selected the hand-woven rugs on our road trips to Oaxaca. The furniture is handmade of tropical hardwood by a carpenter from Zipolite. Most of the paintings on the walls are by Rudy himself!
